POGANINKA (EL OMARI x PENTRA / POGANIN) and EMOCJA (MONOGRAMM x EMIGRACJA / PALAS)

Today, two chestnut Michałów beauties, the 27-year-old EMOCJA and the 7-year-old POGANINKA, are celebrating their birthday.
EMOCJA is the daughter of two horses that played a key role in the history of the Michałów herd; the unforgettable chestnut MONOGRAMM, leased to Michałów to restore the sire line of KUHAILAN HAIFI DB, and the excellent grey EMIGRACJA by PALAS, the progenitor of a very valuable family of champions. Both MONOGRAMM and EMIGRACJA left many show champions in Michałów hence it was a logical step to cross these two remarkable representatives of the Arabian breed. Even though EMIGRACJA crossed best with the grey stallion EUKALIPTUS, the two full sisters by MONOGRAMM were far from disappointment to their breeders.

In 1994, the world welcomed the grey ETENTA, the dam of the UK-bred stallion HS ETIQUETTE by the black Straight Egyptian SIMEON SADIK. Since 2010, the mare is owned by Athbah Stud of Saudi Arabia. A year later, the same cross resulted in EMOCJA who spent most of her career as a broodmare in Michałów. The most recognizable offspring of EMOCJA is the beautiful bay EJRENE by GAZAL AL SHAQAB born in 2004. After a successful show career, EJRENE was sold to Ajman Stud of the UAE for 440 thousand euro, the record price of the 43rd Pride of Poland in 2012.

While EMOCJA spent most of her career in Michałów on expanding the precious dam line of MILORDKA, POGANIKA was conquering national and international show rings. Her most significant successes include Gold Champion Junior Mare and Best in Show at the Białka Junior Spring Show in 2017 and the 2019 European Silver Champion Senior Mare in Verona.

The fact that POGANINKA was so successful in the show ring should not surprise anyone who is acquainted with her noble origin. Representing GAZELLA DB dam line, POGANINKA is a genetic blend of two meritorious Michałów broodmares, EMBRA by MONOGRAMM and PENTRA by POGANIN. Apart from POGANINKA’s sire, the classy chestnut EL OMARI by ENZO, EMBRA left in Michałów an extremely valuable daughter EMIRA by LAHEEB. Through her dam PENTRA, POGANINKA is a half-sister to the precious PROTEKCJA by EKSTERN, last year’s silver medalist among senior mares at the Polish National Show as well as 2021 InterCup and EuroCup Silver Champion Senior Mare.

A prolific show career should go hand in hand with achievements in the breeding barn and thus we are looking forward to this year’s foal out of POGANINKA and by our World Gold Champion Junior Colt MORION. We hope that together with PROTEKCJA, POGANINKA will extend this extremely precious subline of GAZELLA DB in Michałów. At the same time, EMOCJA, one of the last three daughters of MONOGRAMM remaining at the stud, is enjoying her well-deserved retirement among other Michałów brood matrons.
