On the 4th March, we received sad news from the renowned Ariela Arabians of Israel that the excellent Straight Egyptian stallion LAHEEB has gone onto greener pastures at the age of 26. LAHEEB, who has greatly influenced Arabian horse breeding programmes in Poland and worldwide, produced some outstanding offspring also in Michałów, including two highly valued mares, EMIRA and GALILEA.

Throughout her long show career, EMIRA won many prestigious titles in Poland and abroad. She became 2001 Polish National Champion Junior Mare, 2002 All Nations Cup Champion Junior Mare, 2004 Polish National Champion Senior Mare, three times medalist at the European Senior Mare Championships as well as All Nations Cup Bronze Champion Senior Mare and World Bronze Champion Senior Mare. EMIRA’s breeding career is as impressive as her show record. She left some precious progeny at the stud, including the exquisite EL SAGHIRA by GALBA, many times show champion, sold at the 2013 Pride of Poland for a record price of 500 thousand Euro to Ajman Stud of the UAE. In 2009, EMIRA produced the grey EMPIRE by ENZO, currently the chief stallion at his home stud. At the age of 16, EMIRA was sold at the 2016 Pride of Poland for 225 thousand euro and she now lives at the famous Al Thumama Stud in Qatar.

In 2005, GALILEA won the Polish National Champion Senior Mare and World Champion Senior Mare titles while in 2013 she gave birth to a gorgeous grey GALERIDA by SHANGHAI EA. GALERIDA was many times national and international champion. She also reached a record price at the 2019 Pride of Poland, when her final bid finished at 400 thousand euro. Similarly to EMIRA, GALERIDA became part of the broodmare band of the Al Thumama Stud in Qatar.

The influence of LAHEEB on the Michałów State Stud breeding programme cannot be underestimated and will surely be noticeable for many more years in the refined type of his descendants.

Today, our warmest thoughts are with LAHEEB’s breeder, Chen Kedar, and the whole team at Ariela Arabians.
