Equator, the living legend of Polish breeding, celebrated his birthday

EQUATOR through the lens of Glenn Jacobs

On 25th March 2010, the world welcomed EQUATOR, the bay stallion widely known among Arabian horse breeders and enthusiasts around the world. This remarkable representative of Saklawi I sire line is a direct descendant of three phenomenal World Champions: QR MARC, his sire MARWAN AL SHAQAB and his grandsire GAZAL AL SHAQAB. Tail female, EQUATOR can boast about equally noble origin. His dam, the classy chestnut EKLIPTYKA by EKSTERN is the descendant of the legendary ESTOKADA and one of the most precious Michałów broodmares. Apart from EQUATOR, EKLIPTYKA blessed the stud with his full sister ENOBARIA, sold at the last Pride of Poland auction for 34 thousand euro, as well as the exceptional EL BELLISIMA by ASCOT DD, Polish National Silver Champion both as a junior and as a senior mare. Last year, EL BELLISIMA joined the Michałów broodmare band and now she is awaiting her first foal.

It is hard to imagine a more spectacular show career than the one EQUATOR can boast about. The list of accomplishments of this 12-year-old stallion is impressively long. EQUATOR made his first appearance as a yearling at the Białka Junior Spring Show, winning the title of Silver Champion Yearling Colt. A few months later, he became Polish National Silver Champion Yearling Colt. As a two-year-old colt, not only did EQUATOR improve his score at the Polish National Show, becoming Gold Champion Junior Colt, but he also conquered European show rings, receiving the titles of Bronze All Nations Cup Champion Junior Colt, Gold European Champion Junior Colt and Silver World Champion Junior Colt.

Also as a senior stallion, EQUATOR shone in the European, American and Middle Eastern show arenas. His most spectacular successes in Europe include the titles of Polish National Champion Stallion, three times European Champion Stallion, All Nations Cup Bronze and Silver Champion Stallion as well as three times medalist at the World Championships in Paris. Overseas, EQUATOR was very close to winning the US triple crown. He won the shows in Scottsdale and Las Vegas but during the US Nationals he had to settle for the Vicechampion title, giving the place on the podium to MARAJJ. The 2021 Platinum World Champion Senior Stallion title was the crowning achievement of EQUATOR’s long and lustrous show career. While collecting this prestigious title, the stallion was accompanied by his new owners, Al Rajhiat Stud of Saudi Arabia, who bought him at the latest Pride of Poland sale in August 2021 for 450 thousand euro.

EQUATOR’s most recognisable offspring born in Michałów include: DONG (x Demeter / Wojsław), 2017 Polish National Champion Junior Colt, PONTIA (x Polonica / Ekstern), Silver Champion Yearling Filly at the 2015 Białka Junior Spring Show, DASTAN (x Dama Pik / Enzo), Bronze Champion Yearling Colt at the 2017 Białka Junior Spring Show and 2017 Polish National Bronze Champion Yearling Colt, and ZŁOTA MYŚL (x Złota Bulla / Kahil Al Shaqab), 2021 Polish National Silver Champion Yearling Filly.

We hope for EQUATOR to become the pride and joy of his new owners, especially as a breeding stallion. May his Middle Eastern progeny win numerous international show trophies, continuing the great legacy of their sire who has already become living legend.
