Home Life At the Stud GANGES turns 30!

GANGES turns 30!

On April 6th, 2024, we celebrate quite a holiday at Michałów Stud.

On this day, a horse that is known to all lovers and supporters of Michałów, turns 30 years old.

The bay and stately GANGES enjoys excellent health and is in good condition. He happily enjoys the spring sun on his paddock.

He is currently the only living son in state breeding of the historic sire MONOGRAMM, which was brought to Michałów in 1993-1994 by Director Ignacy Jaworowski.

His dam was GARONNA by Fanatyk, a phenomenal race mare. During her 2-year career, she ran 18 times, winning 4 times, including the Oaks Stakes in 1989.

GANGES – beautiful and brave, thanks to his progenitors, combines the features of an ideal Polish Arabian horse.

This stallion has left a strong mark on the show arenas in Poland (1995, 1996 – Polish National Junior Reserve Champion Stallion, 2001 – Polish National Senior Champion Stallion), in Europe (2000 – International Senior Champion Stallion, Blommeröd, 2001 – All Nations Cup Reserve Champion Stallion, Aachen) and in the USA (2002 – Champion Stallion, Columbus (OH), 2003 – USA Reserve Champion Stallion, Albuquerque (NM)).

On the racetrack, Ganges ran successfully, winning three races, including the Koheilan I St.

He passed on his racing predispositions to his offspring, the most outstanding of which was the stallion Don Carlos out of the mare Decyzja by Pamir, who won the Derby in 2005 in a time of 3’32.00″.

GANGES’ offspring are not only racing horses, they are versatile horses that successfully compete in endurance and other disciplines under saddle (Wandea – winning in jumping and pleasure competitions). In the show classes, GANGES’ daughters dazzle with their wonderful Arabian type and, of course, movement, which is assessed with the maximum score.

At his maternal stud, GANGES sired wonderful mares, including: Diaspora, Drzewica, Emissa, Wieża Wiatrów, Wieża Elfów, Wróżka, Złota Księga, Doris Day, Cheroja, Wieża Orientu, Foggara.

Whereas the use of GANGES in Janów Podlaski resulted in mares such as: Bernadetta, Pia out of Pianissima, Eulerta, Perla and Alhasa.

Breeders were eager to use GANGES’ semen, hoping that they would have one of his wonderful daughters, who, as it later turned out, deserved to be called pearls among pure-bred Arabian mares.

We are very happy that GANGES is among us and that he greets his caregiver, Marysia Szyper, with impatient neighing every morning.

30 years is a beautiful age for a horse, but we hope that GANGES will enjoy excellent health for a long time.

Happy Birthday Ganges!
