On August 9-12th, the 46th Polish National Arabian Horse Show and two auctions took place in Janów Podlaski: on Sunday the main auction, i.e. Pride of Poland, and on Monday the Summer Sale.
The first day of the Polish National Arabian Horse Show in Janów Podlaski ended with the success of Michałów’s yearling stallions. Partes took first place in the yearling colts class with a score of 91.10 points in section A, while Egner took third place in section B with a score of 89.30 points.
Two older stallions, El Brillo and Ptolemeusz, took 3rd and 4th place in the 4-6 year old stallions class.
In the under-saddle classes, Marta Jaros on Złoty Medal in the Polish Traditional Costume competition took third place, and Artur Chrzanowski on Echaron came in fourth place right behind.

Saturday belonged to the mares. The first of two classes of yearling fillies began just after 10:00. Perlita and El Mahmala finished their performance with top five results in their classes.
The two-year-old Wildonara delighted the judges at yet another show. The filly received the highest score of 91.80 points among all the junior mares and qualified for Sunday’s championships from first place. Pustynia Wiktorii came in fourth place in Wildonara’s class, while Elegantia and Livorna took third and fourth place in the parallel class, respectively.
In the senior mare classes we saw 6 Michałów stars. The first of the 4-6 mare class was won by the excellently moving El Mariella (Morion – El Marina/ Ganges) with a score of 92.40 points, while the 4-6 mare class of section B belonged to El Medida (Morion – El Medara/ Shanghai E.A.). The mare was rated even higher than El Mariella, because the judges awarded her a total of 92.80 points. The very well moving Edicola (Shams Sharav AA – Emiliara/ Kahil Al Shaqab) finished fourth.
Two mares bred in Michałów competed in the next senior mare class. They were Pustynna Dolina (Kahil Al Shaqab – Pustynna Rosa/ Ekstern) and Poganinka (El Omari – Pentra/ Poganin). The saying that Arabian horses are like wine and get better with age is confirmed. This is exactly what happened with Pustynna Dolina. The mare, who had never been presented before, received her first marks from the judges, and these were outstanding marks (2×20 for type, 2×20 for head and neck, with a body of 18 – 18.5 points, and 2×20 for movement). Pustynna Dolina’s total score was 92.50 points. Poganinka, a show veteran, was second only to Janów’s Adelita, the later Polish National Champion, and took second place in the class with a score of 92.80 points (with a full set of 20s for movement).

In the show ring, Ganges received the WAHO Trophy for an outstanding representative of the Arabian breed from the keeper of the Polish Arabian Stud Book, Joanna Krawczyk. The stallion was accompanied by the distinguished Mariusz Liśkiewicz, his long-time trainer and presenter.
The bay 4-year-old Cuks by the Michałów stallion Equator, bred by Robert Talarek, received the award for the “Best Racing Horse of the Show”. It is worth noting that Cuks competed in the Derby at Warsaw’s Służewiec two weeks ago.

We would like to congratulate all the buyers and wish them both success in shows and breeding.
On Tuesday, August 13th, the “Open Day” was held at Michałów Stud, where a wonderful audience gathered, including many breeders from Poland and abroad who have been cooperating with Michałów for years, and who rewarded Michałów pearls with thunderous applause. The show was hosted by Magdalena Helak – Kulczyńska, the main breeder of Michałów, and Scott Benjamin, who knows Michałów horses and their pedigrees very well.
Thanks to the courtesy of Mrs. Aneta Krzak from Ogrodnictwo Krzak, the arena for the show was beautifully decorated with plants, and the Michałów museum was decorated with plants from Henryka Gietka-Bębenek.
The presented horses were greeted with thunderous applause, and most of the guests commemorated them on photographs and films. Among the audience were many friends of the Stud, local authorities and, which was very pleasing, many children and young people.
We would like to thank everyone for the time devoted to the Arabian horses, for cheering on the show, and the entire Michałów team for the effort put into preparing the horses for this event both in Janów Podlaski and Michałów.
