On May 13th and 14th, 2023, already for the second time Michałów Stud welcomed participants of postgraduate studies at the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences in the field of “Horse Breeding and Equestrianism”.
More than 30 students got acquainted not only with Michałów Stud, but also participated in theoretical and practical classes. Together with the students, the stud’s guest was PhD Ewa Jodkowska, originator of postgraduate studies and author of their program. The first day of this year’s convention included veterinary issues presented in an unconventional way by DVM Olga Kulesza.
Information presenting the historical outline and the current situation of Arabian horses was provided by Anna Stojanowska. The lecture on well-being was conducted by PhD Ewa Jodkowska, while Katarzyna Wiszowaty gave a lecture on the selection of stallions for various types of sports use of horses.
The second day of classes was a more practical day and began with a presentation by Marta Jaros, a specialist in animal production at Michałów Stud, of the morning rite in the stables, after which the students could admire the horses presented by the show horse trainer Mariusz Liśkiewicz.
Then, after the lecture by Prof. PhD Anna Stachurska on the inheritance of coat colors in horses, and exercises on this issue were also conducted. The President of the Michałów Stud, Monika Słowik, together with Magdalena Helak-Kulczyńska, at the end of the classes, presented the organization of work at the stud, taking into account seasonality, as well as the history of the stud itself, the profiles of the most outstanding horses and the development of the environment in which the Stud operates.
The classes were not a monologue of the speakers, there was a discussion on each of the topics, which makes us very happy!
